SD-MOS
Mycotoxins are a diverse group of toxic substances produced
by a group of fungi commonly termed as 'molds'.
Mycotoxins occur as common contaminants in food stuffs.
Mycotoxins are now recognised world over as a serious threat
to poultry health and productivity. When ingested through feed,
mycotoxins can cause serious metabolic and physiolgical
disorders in poultry birds which include :
Reduced tissue integrity and increased susceptibility to
bruising and gizzard erosion.
Disturbance in Calcium and Vitamin D3 metabolism resulting
in fragile bones and shell formation.
Immunosuppression, vaccine and drug failure.
Increased vulnerability to infections.
Poor protein and fat utilisation.
MOS : MANNAN OLIGOSACCHARIDES DERIVED
FROM YEAST CELL WALLS
Both the derivatives do contain same quantum of Protein (Nitrogen)
and Minerals.
CRUDE MOS
GLUCANS 30 %
MANNANS 40 %
PROTEIN 15-20 %
REST 10-15 %
Combined action of MOS will be Toxin binding by Glucans and exclusion
of Pathogens by way of binding with the Mannans.
Symptoms :
In poultry, under field conditions, easily recognisable symptoms of
mycotoxin poisonings are :
- Reduced rate of growth.
- Poor feed conversion.
- Damaged liver and kidney.
- Suppressed level of production.
- Gizzard erosion.
- Sudden mortality.
SD-MOS is a unique blend of effective toxin binders and mold inhibitors
specially designed to bind a range of Mycotoxins like Aflatoxin, Ochratoxin
etc. Simultaneously, SD-MOS inhibits mold growth and activity.
LEVEL OF AFLATOXIN (in ppb) Recommended level of SD-MOS / ton of feed
25 ppb 500 grams
50 ppb 1 Kg
100 ppb 2.5 Kg
200 ppb 5 Kg
Higher level of toxin in the compounded feed would invariably have
attracted higher moisture conditions in the feed ingredients which constitute
the compounded feed.
Increasing levels of toxins necessarily surpass the general linear type
of dose dependant relationship with the binders.
Such surpassed linear dosing of binder shall also overcome the ill effects
of other prospective (associative) toxins that keep getting produced under
ideal conditions of fungal growth.
When the feed (with SD-MOS) is ingested by the bird, the greater
de-toxification effect will prevail in the gut environment in view of ideal
conditions such as pH, temperature and moisture.
Further, certain specific ingredients in SD-MOS would modify or transform
the toxins even when they reach the systemic blood circulation.
